ALEX ROY RESIDENCE ’00

Roy Residence – 2000

LOCATED IN THE CARL FISHER BUILDING, ACROSS FROM COOPER UNION IN NEW YORK CITY, THIS 3000 SQUARE FEET LOFT IS A SPACE FOR A BACHLOR. THE DESIGN CONCEPT LEAVES THE SPACE INDUSTRIAL AND UNTOUCHED, AND THAN INSERT “OBJECTS” INTO IT, ALL DESIGNED AND FINISHED WITH CONTEMPORARY SET OF MIND.

KITCHEN, BAR, HOME OFFICE AND LIBRARY, LIGHT FIXTURES, SLIDING DOORS AND SUSPENDED TV SETS – ARE ALL DESIGNED WITH POLISHED METALS AND HIGH END GLASS TO GENERATE TENSION BETWEEN EXISTING AND NEW. VERY FEW WALLS ARE PROPOSED IN THE DESIGN, ALLOWING THE SPACE TO REMAIN OPEN AND MAINTAIN THE OLD INDUSTRIAL CHARACTER.
